The fact that Democrats are competitive or may be competitive is proof that corruption, dishonesty and politicizing and corrupting the judicial system as well as winning presidency in 2020 on dubious grounds shows America is on shaky and shadowy grounds because virtually all institutions are corrupt. Not a recipe for a successful and vibrant republic. If Trump wins, possibly in a landslide, it means the republic can be revived.

I do feel like a Trump victory is a hopeful development. Fingers crossed 🤞 we don’t end up disappointed.

It seems like when I think the Democrats can’t get any more deranged, they outdo themselves

In what way is Trump a republican?

I assume he’s a paid up member. Do you mean “in what is he conservative?”

Republican is not just the name of a political party. It is a term for a form of government. Henry was saying a Trump victory "means the republic can be revived." So I ask how is Trump a believer in a republican form of government? And it is absolutely worth asking how he is a conservative, assuming conservative means anything. Conservative of what, exactly?

Is Republican a term for a form of government these days? It might have been once upon a time. Not sure it is anymore. This version of Republican seems to be about closing borders and returning to pre-woke sanity... days before critical race and gender theory hijacked everything. And I guess that also sort of describes modern conservatism too. Modest goals but these are crazy times.

Republicanism is an objective term describing a form of government. It is not whatever a party calling itself Republican says it is. Any more than conservatism is what the Conservative Party says it is, or liberal is what the Liberal Party says it is. Republican and conservative have no real relationship to one another. Depending on what one is seeking to conserve. Ron Paul is a republican and a Constitutional Conservative. He is the antithesis of Donald Trump. Who is not a republican and who seeks only to conserve 1970s style Democratic social democracy. What you are describing of Trump and his party is the definition of conservatism -- socialists doing the speed limit, tapping the brakes before going over the cliff. And Trump policies are flat out un American in many ways: such as his protectionism.

Apparently Daniel Liebskind (architect... "star-kitecht"), designer of the revived Royal Ontario Museum, is apparently one of the finest accordion players in the world. But we must let the ROM addition sully the accordion's fine reputation! LOL

1. Tom MacDonald is the most perfect Canadian rapper name I've ever heard.

2. I definitely feel like there's been a huge change in willingness to embrace Trump. It just feels like last time you heard whispers *shhhhhh*"I think I might vote Trump."*shhhhhhhh* Now people are willing to just say it. I don't know if that means his support is bigger. But it can't be a bad thing for him.

3. I'm not especially hopeful. I dont hate Trump. To the extent that he has a movement or a philosophy I'm rather sympathetic. If he wins I admit I'll have the same little smirk I had in 2016. But he's just not a good or competent guy, imho. And it'll end in tears. The only thing he could conceivably do is send the message "Democrats. The public chose this guy, this freakin' guy(!), over you. Again! Maybe rethink your s**t a little?" But they won't get that message 'cause they're off in whatever land.

Anyway (to quote Biden). Good column!
